Wow, this plant is bigger than my two!!

I can't believe how fast this plant has grown! We were out taking pictures of the garden and I wanted to take a picture next to something so you can imagine the size. Scout and Finch were the perfect solution!

The Dog Days of Summer

Finch loves going to our neighbor's house and retrieving the ball! She runs very fast and it's great exercise for her!

Here she is after a drink and resting under our tree.
*boy does she need to be stripped!*

Scout is not one for exercise. This is how she likes spending her summer days!

Staying cool

I think Scout and Finch's favorite activity is sitting in the backyard and watching the animals (of course, they would LOVE to be able to chase them!)

Yum!

My two love their treats....what dog doesn't?? The latest scare (of tainted dog food and treats) has given me motivation to make their treats. I opened up a shop on Etsy to sell my treats to other concerned dog owners.

Scout and Finch have had lots of fun "testing" the treats!

Do you think she liked it? :)

Beautiful days of spring!

"I would love to catch some birds!"
"Mom, quit bothering me!"

"What's up, mom?"

Summer temps are here!

Scout and Finch have been enjoying our beautiful weather and their new pool!

Scout (left) was the first one in, and Finch (right) followed a
few seconds later!

Finch finished the day by taking a nap on our new deck furniture.

Life as a dog

Scout loves to sit outside and just ponder life. We have had beautiful weather for the past few days, and Scout loves to sit outside and watch her silly sister catch balls.
Finch likes to walk around with the ball (or frisbee) in her mouth. On the plus side, it helps muffle her barks! Yes, she even barks with the ball/frisbee in her mouth...silly dog!

Mom, will you please buy us a bigger bed??

Scout and Finch usually "take turns" sleeping on this bed. For the past week they have been sleeping together! Yes, they sleep with their head hanging off the bed. :)

when can we come out??

We built gates, on our deck, so our Cairn Terriers could have a place to play and spend time outdoors (we don't have a fenced in yard yet). I was watering some plants today and I shot this picture. Finch (left) always sticks her head through the rails....cracks me up! Scout (right) likes to lie down and rest her head on the bottom rail.

Happy Bunny Day!

HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY EASTER!

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Where did all the warm weather go?? Scout and Finch have been enjoying the nice weather but now it's in the 20's! Finch doesn't seem to care if it's cold out, but Scout wants to come inside as soon as she is outside!

Scout is 5 years old today!

My April Fool's Cairn is now 5 years old! I can't believe how fast the time has gone with her.

The sun feels great!

It's in the 60's today, and will be in the 70's Monday and Tuesday......time for play outside!

Notice that the frisbee is close by?

I'm not a cat, I just act like one.

My Human keeps telling me to act like a dog...but why??

How I use my "binky"!

Here is Finch and her crazy "binky". Notice how she "wears" the frisbee.

Snow, snow, snow!

Finch is TRYING to find her frisbee in the snow on our deck.

Still trying.....

Chasing the frisbee

Ok....we are ready to come inside!

We have about an inch of snow outside....and it's still coming down!

Wednesday, February 7, 2007

Mommy, may I help??

Today I did some winter sowing (sowing seeds to place outdoors) and Scout sat near me and watched the entire time. Maybe she thought I was making cupcakes??

Fire and a Cairn Terrier

My sweet Scout loves the fireplace. I was sitting on the hearth of the fireplace and Scout jumped up on my lap. I had just finished adding another log to the fire when I smelled a burning smell...horrible smell! I looked at Scout and she had a spark on her head! I quickly put it out and Scout was unaware that anything happened. Scout was not burned and quickly snuggled back into my lap....I moved to the recliner. :)

Sardines

Scout and Finch had Sardines for dinner last night! I bought a small can (in case they didn't like it...yea, right!) and they wolfed it down. Is there anything these two won't eat?

Snow in play

Finch would not take no for an answer when she wanted to go outside. I threw the frisbee down the basement steps, but she tires of this quickly....wouldn't you? :)
Late this afternoon I went outside to sweep the snow away from the hot tub so I can get into it tonight. Finch, of course, grabbed the opportunity to play with her frisbee. Her sweet face won the battle and I threw the frisbee for her (from on top of the deck). Her frisbee has a hole in it and she keeps getting her head stuck inside...I think the frisbee has seen it's last days!

Have space....will play. DH is out of town, so Scout and Finch made use of the space on the bed...doesn't anyone want to sleep??
We have about .5 inch of snow on the ground this morning...just enough for the girls to leave wet paw marks all over the kitchen floor.

My Cairn Terriers

What can I say about life with my Cairn Terriers? Well, life is never dull! They have so much personality (like so many dogs) and are just plain funny!

I have two female Cairns. Scout is 3.5 years old and is quiet, loving, sweet, and stubborn. Finch is 2.5 years old and is full of spunk. She is a lover of frisbees and her sun rises and sets just for her frisbees (she calls them balls).

Above is my favorite picture of Scout. She usually hides behind the table if she thinks she is going to have her teeth brushed, or god forbid, her nails cut!

This is my favorite picture of Finch. We have our back deck gated, so she likes to stick her head out to see what is going on in our backyard.
